Coconut
The coconut is the fruit of the coconut palm, a large tree that can be up to 30 meters high, growing in a tropical climate and especially along the seashores. The coconut is not really a “nut” but a type of fruit known as a fibrous drupe. When the fruit still is green it is possible to drink its refreshing juice inside. When the fruit is ripe it eventually falls from the tree. The outer husk has then turned brown and inside is the white and fleshy meat, the edible part of the fruit.
Properties
The coconut oil is made from the white fleshy part of the fruit, which is used in skincare products. The oil contains saturated fat, unsaturated fat, polyunsaturated fat, glycerine and vitamin E, which has a nourishing and a moisturizing effect on skin and hair.
Coconut oil can be found in the following Oriflame products:

Cloudberry
Cloudberry typically grows in forest clearings or fields, particularly where fire or wood-cutting has produced open space for colonization by this opportunistic colonizer of disturbed soil. It can withstand temperatures of -40°c so thrives in the cold and wet meadows of Sweden. The cloudberry flower can be a major nectar source for honeybees. As a cultivated plant in moist temperate regions, it is easy to grow and has a tendency to spread unless cut back.
Properties
Cloudberries are rich in essential unsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and mineral salts and when combined with other carefully selected ingredients can provide an invigorating and refreshing compress for the skin.
Cloudberry extract can help to regenerate damaged epidermis, to nourish the skin and prevent creation of wrinkles. |

Iris
Not only does the Iris produce a beautiful flower – contained within the petals and roots are a real treasure trove of valuable components – isoflavones. The plant flowers in June or July, producing two or three deep blue flowers with yellow marks in the center of the lower petals. Flowers are six-petaled and just over 10cm in diameter.
Properties
Isoflavones from Iris are one of the major groups of flavonoids commonly found in the plant world. Like many other flavonoids, Iris Isoflavones inhibit the growth of microorganisms and reduce the damaging effects of ultraviolet exposure, free radicals, heavy metals and other environmental factors. They intensively stimulate cell division and anabolic processes. In the skin they can contribute to the quality of collagen and elastin and can improve the condition of skin, delaying signs of aging. Iris Isoflavones also exhibit strong antioxidant properties and neutralise free radicals. They also have anti-inflammatory properties and can help to regenerate skin cells.
Iris extract can be found in the following Oriflame products:
